communism and capitalism

are they bang opposite??

Well a recent article said it all, a person's father in singur lost his land due to communism. after years of hardwork , the guy had bought some land in the same place. Now due to the TATA car accquistion this guy is forced by the police to cede his land to the capitalists.

Well which makes one wonder which is better or are they any different??

I have had this feeling all along... in a sense both of them arose out of a need to provide percieved just and deserving returns for the inputs in terms of energy and resources...

well see both r good as a concept one talks about an individual's just returns and other talks abt a social weel being, man is a social animal, so he will reap equally well if the society does well. The q is whether the concepts can be implemented succesfully or are they perceived as per a society's temporary needs??

Communism is an extremely good theory, but practice makes it difficult . The main idea behind communism is equality and that’s what we are forever striving for in India .Trying to bridge the increasing gap between the rich and the poor.

In the following case where West Bengal has been under communism for 25 + yrs and has invited criticism from various fields, the state is now trying to blend the two concepts. How to invite investors, make the state grow rapidly and share the dividends for the profitability of the mass.
But the opposition has nothing constructive to do.

So the best idea is to blend the two theory and get the best of both .

Beg to differ from the line stated to depict communism in this blog. Cannot go by the newspaper clippings!!

The purpose of employment is to provide self sufficiency and autonomy. Capitalism fits into this definition. When there is a redistribution of wealth - as in communism - you run into problems as we saw in Russia. The problem is that people require varied levels of self sufficieny and autonomy, and communism assumes that all needs are equal.

For example - your needs may be met with just an ample food supply while my needs require ample food and beautiful artifacts to feel fullfilled. So typically, you will work effectively just until your needs are met. I, on the other hand, will not only need to work longer to achieve the beautiful artifacts for myself, but for you, as well.

As this discrepancy continues, I will eventually lower my standards to yours.

in contrast, capitalism encourages you to raise your standards to mine.

Though both might result in the same thing happening, they intend to reward people in different ways...

All I can say is, poor guy in singur, he jus' HAD to lose his land!
